A Private Branch Exchange is an internal telephone network in a company or organisation that connects multiple office extensions using a small number of external lines. There are traditional PBXs (hardware switching consoles that allow the connection of existing telephone landlines), IP PBXs (phone systems that operate on the data network via the cloud) and VoIP PBXs (cloud-based systems managed on an external host).
